Farewell, Ciao, Adios, Alvida, or maybe just a plain goodbye!

Its the final word guys. This is the very last blog that you'll see us writing for this competition. The site, is almost done. Thank God, no glitches are there in the website!  But this journey we've had all along as part of this Think Quest competition, has been wonderful, too good to be true. For its not always that you get create memories that will last forever and ever with your friends. Maybe we'll win. Maybe we'll loose. But Who Cares? We know the change, we've brought along, we know the ideas we started in a young childs mind in our school. And we know that is going to stay in us for a really really really long time. For things like this are not easily forgotten. And why would we let anybody forget? To start the journey ahead of this competition, we have already submitted in petitions to our principal in order to start a towers of trash in our school, in which we would create small sculptures out of all the waste materials in our school. Its really something, isnt it?

But as I told you, its the final word. And its time to say Farewell friends,

That Someday We Want Today!

Earth.. The only planet supporting life, and if we destroy it through our own hands what is mankind's real worth then? Someday as everyone says, will be better. Someday they hope their goodwill will be answered.  Someday..
This someday is a very complicated thing. You never know when it might turn up out of the blue unexpectedly. But the someday, we'll have to make it one day. The someday we need has to come today. There is never a tomorrow, or even a day-after. Time is precious and we cannot afford to waste it anymore. All these months we spent on  this topic of ours, we hope will finally be the harbinger of good results and a better someday as we wish. But we do not wish for that someday to come. During the course of our project one thing we surely realized is that if you want something you have to pave your way towards. It wont fall out of the sky.

This someday, is something we want right here, right now. A better place to live in. A greener environment to look upon. That beautiful Earth we want to preserve forever as they say. For even our very own mother, deserves a happy ending..

Throughout this project, we have come across many obstacles. Some of which we broke down. Some of which made us change our course. But we see that as milestones in our life. It is something that has taught us, to be more active in such sensitive matters. This project of ours that promotes the three very basic values that every household/ child must have inculcated in them is just a begging to something huge we want to initiate. Maybe that is why, we asked our school, to start up a tower of trash in our school as well as a "Let Books Be reused" campaign.

This is maybe one of the last blogs, we are writing, but its a little something that we wanted to share. Not for the sake of winning a prize in this competition.  But for bringing about a change. For winning or loosing is just a stair that one climbs upon, only to reach the summit.

Going *.gif*

You might see, that our title is a bit wierd. But it totally goes, with what we have been working on the past 2-3 days! We have created gifs that we have been showing to people and taking there first reactions!
Our very 1st gif is about our group considering earth. It's a bit silly, and simple. But it's enough to make us loud in the crowd. Here it is :

You'll need a little patience with the second one, as it is a bit lengthy telling the arrows of reuse-reduce-recycle while showing how one can get a new sheet of paper just by recycling an old one!

Cool isnt it?

The day we were "awed" by our juniors!

Primary School. It had been so long, before we actually got to see the innocent faces of our juniors. All dressed  so cutely, and ready to work for something that motivates them. And as we went to talk to them, their bright faces made our day. So becoming a little more enthusiastic than usual, started explaining we were there, about our project, what we believe in, and last but not the least how they could contribute!

As we got really good responses from all of them, we asked them to bring waste material the very next day (that being today), to make something creative out of it. We called a best out of waste competition. This was organised in 4 sections of Class 5. The children could use anything to everything. The children had to work in groups of 4 to create a poster out of waste materials. They could make a scenery or illustrate a beautiful quote. The children were very excited about all this, and today almost everyone brought in materials to participate in the competition. We got an overwhelming amount of entries, along with kids who awaited the results.  There was one group of boys who felt so truly for our cause, that they even brought a poem from the net which they recited!

The poster too were amazing, we never expected such a big turnout, as the final moments for judging came, most of us went into dilemma as to whom shall we give the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize. After alot of judging and asking for suggestions we finally showed the prize winning posters.

Hoof! What a day it was! But we do hope that we get a similiar turnout from the rest of the competitions we are planning to hold, in the middle school.

Here are some snapshots of todays competition:

Working Around!

We're in school and we're working like anything! Going to the lab everyday to update our site, check our facebook page, update this blog and screaming at our page views and reach! This all turning out so good, but Rome wasn't built in day, and we are taking a little more time than we expected. But are anticipations are high! And we know, if we work toward our dream of winning something here, we are surely going to achieve it!

As for right now? We all are riding high on top of the world, after all our Facebook has become such a great hit! We have like 12,000 friends of fans, and likes and page views form all over the world!

Its a big deal for us. Really it is. This is one project, we are all putting so much effort into, and we want to come out of flying colors. For that, people need to know about our project especially our school. So in and around this week or he next, we are planning to start with the younger generation in our school. We plan to tell the 5th class in the primary about our project, and then ask them to do a little hands-on activity. The activity that we plan to organise is a best of waste competition,  only out of eco-friendly materials. This we believe might help those young minds, get creative on how they can recycle and reuse various stuff in their house, instead of just throwing them around.
Do you think its a great idea? Or do you believe in our initiative too?
If yes, join our facebook page  @ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Considering-Earth/354878224550093

The how, what, when and where!

Its time to rock and roll! Watch out, 'cause yours might be the next school or community, we come to..

Yes, its true, the spread-your-topic-approach time has come. We have tried our methods, and found out that they work pretty well. What our next step includes is to tell people these simple methods that they can use to reuse-reduce-recycle ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. What we plan to do is to go to local schools and communities teaching them how to recycle paper at home, dig organic waste and separating their biodegradable waste from non-biodegradable ones.

Our methods are very plain and simple. We go to schools/communities talk to the kids about whatever little they know about recycling and if they have recycled anything till now. We then take chances to express our views, why the three R's are so important and what adverse effects every small initiative would make.  A little quiz to bring in the zeal and some activities like recycling paper in school and a hands-on on how to dig an organic pit!

The pits would include all edible wastes like banana peels and what not. Finished off by planting seeds in the soil, in order to ensure a healthier earth!

Feel motivated. interested or confused about our approach?

Laziness away!

Hey everyone! We're back and we're ready for some serious waste bashing through recycling!

What exactly we plan to do is something all of us are aware of but never take the time out to do. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. How many of us have heard these words a million times but have failed to grasp the gravity of these three words. Even the most basic resource like paper leads to the cutting down of billions of trees every month. I bet you didnt know that for every kilogram of paper you use 23 full grown trees are cut down. Just imagine the consequences if 80% of the world's trees are cut down just for satisfying human needs. But this is not a need. Its just laziness on our part not to recycle that one sheet of paper that we just finished doing something useless on or which we do not need.

Seems like all of us need to go back to those glory days in that kindergarden of ours where human values were the most important thing. That's why we are here. Because deep down all of us feel the same burning desire to do something for this planet.

Put your laziness away, get up and do something. Reuse a sheet of paper. Dig an organic pit in your garden.
Why?

Because you CAN make a change.
